It’s hard to condense a whole trip into a few words, so all I can do is pick out a few experiences that stuck in my head. I will just say, though, that I really like Tokyo – it has a lot of the feel of London, with some of the nastier bits erased. It’s clean, people are (overly) friendly, and safe, with all the bustle you could want, and then quiet streets just seconds away parallel to the action. Modernity and respect for some older ways of doing things. A complete mix. It’s also not too hard for an English speaker to get around, in Tokyo at least. By the end of the week I’d even managed to get somewhere just using the address and the copious street furniture.
