A simple question – could you live without Google?

Can you live a full happy Internet life without Google? Whatabout Yahoo as well (both are currently creeping me out by conciously showing that using search will be stored against my profile)?

Mike talks about seceding from Google . I’m currently locked in with gmail, more than anything else. And Google Maps at least doesn’t seem to use your Google Account login information. Simply upping shop from one overlord to another doesn’t help things, maybe it is a case of spreading usage and information about.

What would be scarier was if my Internet access came from Google. It’s hard to claim you’re “just a pipe” if you use the surfing data to improve, say, search.
